I absolutely adore Christmas. It's my favourite time of year and always has been for as long as I can possibly remember. There are so many things that take me right back to my childhood, the nostalgic twinkling of the lights, the magical tingly feeling of Christmas eve and one of my favourites - the glorious smell of a real Christmas tree. Pure Heaven in a pot.
Last year we left it so late we decided to give in and buy a quick half price artificial tree and although our son was crazy excited still, my husband was so disappointed at it's empty limp plastic branches. We really missed the excitement of selecting our perfect tree, our new prickly house guest that would look after our gifts and adorn a billion sparkly treasures, not to mention the glorious smell.
This year we have vowed to get a real tree and not just any tree. We want a big tree! We have very high ceilings in our Victorian house and we want it to reach the top, fill our bay window with its wide branches and fill our house with it's beautiful scent.
