Photography // Family Day: Woodside Wildlife Park

A day out at Woodside - Lincolnshire

We struggle for things to do sometimes at the weekend and living in Lincolnshire there aren't a million things to keep us entertained as a family without spending too much money. We recently ventured out on a special family day to Woodside Wildlife Park which we have been to years ago but knew there had been a few changes, including the arrival of two beautiful tigers that had been rescued from a circus in Europe. The prices were pretty fair for all the new features I had read about and we couldn't wait to venture inside with our little explorers.

We were amazed to see the gorgeous tigers in the flesh, as well as all the improvements made to the park in general which are just brilliant! There is so much there for the whole family and we stayed the whole day without a seconds break from the action.

The kids enjoyed the shows and reptile handling where Alf held a snake and Soph looked horrified at the tarantula. Alf loved the butterfly house and Soph was fascinated by feeding the chickens! We fed the meerkats and adorable otters their mealworms, cooed over stunning white wolves and enjoyed a picnic and an ice cream in the sunshine.

I took my camera with us to capture the fun and thought I'd share some of my favourites. The animals all behaved perfectly so I was able to get some pretty cute shots!

Enjoy...

We had  a great time at Woodside and were really impressed with all the work and new features that have popped up over the last few years. The tigers are just breathtaking and they look so happy with lots of room to relax in the sunshine. The staff were brilliant, helpful and the shows/talks were fun and informative without being too long or in depth for the kids. One bearded keeper in particular was really helpful and made us laugh as well as helping us rescue Alf's hat from the otters - clumsy boy.
Both children had a whale of a time and so did we.

As well as all the amazing animals, there is also some great play areas, heaps of room for the kids to run around or have a picnic, an inside picnic area, cafe and shop. I can't wait to go back!
