Kate - Grace & Bloom
Last year I ran a series of posts introducing some bloggers, some beauticians, a PR guru and lots more, to find out all about them and their work. What's Your Day Job is back and I am so excited to introduce you to the lovely Kate this time round, a fellow work from home Mum of two. I've stalked Kate's Instagram for a while now and as someone that adores flowers, her job fascinates me! Find out all about it below.
Meet Kate
What's your job?
I have recently launched Grace and Bloom a flower subscription service, sending Beautiful Blooms out through the post. My job is all of it! From the advertising, the making up and packing of the boxes, the hand selecting and prepping the flowers and the post office run!
How long have you been doing it?Grace and Bloom has only just launched with July 2016 being our first Blooms Box month, I've had a fabulous response to those who purchased the July Blooms Box so cant wait to grow on that and work on building the amount of orders each month.
What do you like best about it?
I can work around caring for my children Harry 3 and Grace 1 as I work from home. I set up my little business to be able to care for Graces additional care needs, as in January this year when she was 10 months old she went into respiratory arrest and became very poorly, ending up on life support. This was due to a weakened immune system after beating meningitis when she was only six months old! We are extremely lucky she is still with us as she had to be resuscitate numerous times, due to this she has a very poor immune system and is very prone to infection. She is my inspiration, after the toughest first year of life any child should go through she still smiles and brings us so much joy every day.
I get myself a little stressed out on the run up to posting day as it is currently all being done on the one day a month. This is because I'm a perfectionist and want the flowers and the full gift experience to be perfect for every order. I believe that really personal touch makes all the difference when sending something special.
Would you recommend it?
Definitely! Its very hard, stressful and currently difficult financially as we have used our small amount of savings to start up. But it will be worth it, I have the determination and give the hard work to make this work for us as a family. I also get to spend so much extra time with my children, which I am so thankful for and thoroughly enjoy.
Any funny stories?
Not yet!
What's your dream job?
To be honest, I think I am doing it, I'm doing something for myself, as my own boss, I'm passionate about it, and love spreading the joy of Blooms Boxes. I love to hear the amazing feedback and how happy I have made someone.
Would you carry on if you won the lottery?
Definitely, I do like to be busy and doing something I'm passionate about, why would I give that up?!
