Home Style || 5 Elegant Essentials For Your Living Room

Home Style - Collaborative post

When you’re looking to dress up your home, you may find that there are certain rooms that you want to start with. Whether you’re renovating your whole house or just this one room, the living room is always a great place to start with. It’s often one of the rooms that you’ll spend the most time in, so it’s nice to be able to make sure that it’s one of the first rooms in your home that is fully renovated and ready to use, it tends to be one of the cheaper rooms to makeover too, with less furniture and fittings required. With less larger things to buy, you can invest more into your key pieces here and make it feel truly luxurious. As a step on from that, you may also want to think about what you need to do to get it looking exactly how you want. If you love elegance, then these ideas should inspire you...

Statement Sofa

One of the first items that you might want to go with is the idea of the statement sofa. If you know that you want your living space to really pop, why not let the sofa be the central focus point? You could choose an exciting fabric such as a plush velvet or a bright or contrasting colour and really let that set the tone of the room. Although you'll find some great deals online, you may want to consider buying second hand or from a store, so that you can test them for comfort first. There's nothing worse than an uncomfortable sofa!

Chic Tables

Apart from your seating, another main feature of the living space always tends to be the tables that you pick, and there may to be a few that you need to choose. First there are side tables to frame your seating, somewhere to pop a bit of greenery, candles or just to put your coffee down. A cute mirrored nest of table could look great here, or something vintage, maybe even upcycled if you're on a budget. You may also want to have a central coffee table so that you have somewhere to seat your drinks or snacks, but also, it’s nice to dress them with different books and accessories, or even get one with storage built in for an extra place to keep things you need close to hand.

Beautiful Fireplace

Another really standout option that you might want to consider here is a beautiful fireplace display, they just add a bit of focus and really cosy up a room, especially in the colder months. Whether it's a new build with no built in fire places or an older property with original fittings, cosiness is key, and one of the best ways to achieve that is with a lovely fitting fireplace. Now, it might be hard for you to decide what you want, so taking a look at the different fireplaces you could go for can help. It’s also important to decide if you want an open fire or something electric or gas based. If you live in a newer property you can fake it with a stand alone electric fireplace, a wall mounted modern digital version or even see if you can have a log burner built in.

Wall Features

Then we have the artwork or different features that you can add to the walls. If they are looking a bit sparse or empty, then it’s nice to try and show off some colour in art or add shelving or different photos or art. This can make the space look very elegant and finished too and can be a really good way to represent your tastes with something small that can be changed as and when you need to. You could stick to plain walls and some large striking artwork, or have a feature wall with a bold key colour or paper.

Elegant Accessories

From here, you’re then going to want to make sure that you’re able to accessorise the space in the way that you want to too. Having the main elements in always helps to make the area look its best. But, you might want to take that to the next level and think about the finishing touches that you want to add in. This could be candles, lighting, a rug, photographs, or sweet little trinkets. When the room is 90% there, think about the accessories that will finish it off. Colour schemes can be great, but can also look a little outdated, so think before you buy and opt for different textures and finishes to really bring your room together and make it the cosiest it can be.
