100 Happy Days - Day 55

The New You Plan - Results & Review

I have just completed my two week trial of The New You Plan. I promised myself I would stick to this diet 100% as it was such a great opportunity to try something I haven't had the chance to do before. I have tried meal replacements previously, but this plan was very different so I thought I would tell you all about it.

100 Happy Days - Day 53

Making Changes

I don't know if it's from turning 30 last year, seeing friends  my own age lose their lives - or just the fact that time is racing by at a million miles an hour - but I needed to change me as a person and my life, so I am doing it.

My Weight loss Journey - Why Now?

From Home To Halls

September will soon be upon us which means big changes for our children. Nervous tiny ones heading off to school, excited teenagers off for their college adventures and the nearly adult ones off to University - finally breaking free from the nest!

It's so hard leaving home for the first time and being thrown into a new world, new friends, new life with zero home comforts! I remember it so well, being dropped off in an empty plain white box of a room with some bits from my bedroom at home, waving my parents off and sheepishly making my introductions and unpacking my things.

I lived in halls on campus and loved having my own space to decorate. I had a full wall top to bottom with photographs, a six foot fabric Nirvana poster hanging over the door way and all sorts of other things like candles, cushions and an unnecessary amount of Christmas baubles. On refection it probably looked a royal mess, but at the time I loved it! If you have kids going off to uni this year then you can help them feel more settled bytreating them to some homely treats to make them more comfortable in their new space. Choosing some special new things to spruce up their new home over summer, could be just the thing to bridge the gap and relieve a little of their anxieties.

HomeSense have a really lovely range of items especially for this time of year, and what's better is that it is all so much more unique and design savvy than most things you find on the high street. It's pretty much my favourite place for home ware, so I thought I would do another update of some of my favourite bits and pieces, this time picked out to cosy up a student pad.

Here are a few basic tips to survive the big leap to studentville and setting up a capsule home for your studies.

Keep Your Home Secure This Bank Holiday

Holidays are just my favourite thing in the whole world. I love being away somewhere different having our family adventures, but being the worrying type I can't help but constantly think about what we will get home to, and so I like to prepare as much as I can so that from the outside, it isn't too obvious we have gone away. It's horrible to have to think like that, but unfortunately it's so common these days I just can't help but worry.

Happy Rainy Days - (Perfect) Raincoat Review

If there is one thing I have learnt since becoming a mother, it's that you can't be fussy about going out in the rain any more. The best thing to do in this lovely British weather is to embrace the rain, channel your inner duck and have fun! Children love the rain, jumping in puddles, catching raindrops and we should too! It is nice to keep a bit dry though, there's nothing worse than that soaked to the bone feeling when you get home, or unleashing the frizz ball of humidity that is my hair!

Braun CruZer 6 - Review

Me and Mr. Waffle love a good shopping trip - I'm a lucky girl hey? One day we were in town and came across the aisle with waxing strips. I am a little bit scared of waxing admittedly and haven't let it much closer than my eyebrows, but he's never had anything done, possibly quite wisely. He noticed some waxing strips and decided he would get some for his back hair. He's by no means a yeti, far from it - but does have a few patches of man fur that he isn't too keen on that can tickle and itch at times. Needless to say, those wax strips are still sat in the drawer. The nightmares of me coming for him in the night armed with wax, meant that when he heard we had been offered to try the new Braun CruZer 6 to review - he quickly volunteered his services.

Slow Down Or Let Me Get Off!

I'm always waffling on on here about how quickly time passes, but it really does and it's just pure crazy at the moment. The weeks and months just blur into one and I'm left every day wondering where the day has gone. The kids are bigger and cleverer by the second - truly an eye opener for making the most of life.

Peppa Pig Night Light - Review

Our son A is completely and utterly terrified of the dark. When he reached the grand old age of three, his imagination suddenly went wild and he started experiencing night terrors and crazy dreams. He refuses to sleep without some kind of light on and it can be really hard to find something of the right brightness that doesn't cost a fortune in batteries, or scare him even more.

The New You Plan - Intro

As I mentioned recently in my mid month update, I was approached by a meal replacement company to trial their plan. The company is 'The New You Plan' and I agreed to trial this diet for two weeks, committing myself to the plan 100%. I was soon contacted by a lovely guy called Grant who called me to put together my order and meal plans. I was really impressed with the products available and the variety of flavours on offer. This was something I felt lacking from other similar diets I have read about.

We soon agreed (after a lovely chat) what I would be eating alongside weight loss drinks and lots of water and I was shortly emailed to say my order including food, drinks and snacks for two weeks had been dispatched. I am really excited to start this plan, the results sound amazing and it seems really simple to follow. The service and support on offer from the very first step is like nothing I have experienced before. It feels like you already have a great selection of people there for you and egging you on for success - a great start. I was also sent a journal to write in, that gets you to focus on the positives and shake off any old habits and emotions that have led to your weight gain - fab. The whole thing feels so personal and happy, I love the style of this brand and their positive attitudes - really inspiring!

Spearmark Summer Satchels - Review

With hopefully a good few weeks of summer left to enjoy and many more days out and picnics, I am always looking for ways to transport and store our food for snacks and lunches safely and stylishly.

Mid Month Weight Loss Update

It's the middle of August already - how on earth has that happened? I've had a pretty exciting few days diet wise and thought I had better do a little blog update. I am hoping to have some pretty good losses on the weight front in the coming weeks!

I Love My Home - One Man's Junk...

I know it's a bit of a stereotype as a woman, but I really love shopping. Admittedly, I am a total shopaholic, just a slightly badly off one that spends more time dreaming about and virtual shopping than physically doing it! Even nipping to the shop for milk excites me - I just love the whole process of buying - weird much? I love getting pretty things for our house and although at the moment we need to clear out more than buy in, I can't resist having a peek at whats on offer, making a mental note of what to buy in future and looking for beautiful unique things. I was so excited today to find something beautiful in a skip dumped by a neighbour, one mans junk is definitely a Wafflemama's treasure!

Keeping Motivated: August Weightloss

This post has been a while in the writing. I have had so much to do, an amazing holiday, two babies to keep running and a disastrous mess of a house to try and maintain. I gained a little weight lately (oopsie) after my great loss with Slim-Fast! I went on holiday afterwards and ate like it was going out of fashion, it was most enjoyable, but the snacking has continued on and off since I got back - last week was mostly good though. It is so hard to shake off the bad habits.

It may only be August, but Christmas will soon be upon us and I want to lose a good chunk before then. I want to be a slinky Mrs Santa this year! I'm not sure on exact numbers as I have been avoiding the scales, but another 7lbs before Christmas should be more than doable and totally achievable! I started my weight loss venture last August, and properly in October when I began Weight Watchers. I have never really been too strict, I have a treat regularly and we love our pizza in this house! I have lost near to four stone and although that is great, I am still weighing in as 'obese' with my BMI and I live for the day I see the word 'healthy' on that calculator, so the venture continues. I could really do with losing the same over the next year but I try not to focus on a huge goal like that so early on.

The Big Bank Holiday Spring Clean!

Bank holidays are just the best aren't they? The greatest thing for us is that we always forget when they are - every year without fail and end up feeling super excited a few days before about having some extra family time and a day off work - amazing! There has to be some advantage to being disorganised, this must be it! Not any more though - this August bank holiday is firmly marked in my brain and I am for once making us some plans. What better way to use your bank holiday but to sort out the house. All those niggly little jobs add up and finally it's time for a belated spring clean up, a million tip runs and even a little shopping to help spruce up the house and get ready for autumn. Will I ever get my lovely clock up on the wall? It's been sat there for three months and it's not looking very hopeful. Luckily it kind of works where it is. I will be beautifying some other areas with the help of my favourite treasure trove - my local HomeSense store.
