Mama Life || Fun Ideas For New Years Eve

Mama Life || Collaborative Post

Whether you're a parent, single, married or dating - there's absolutely no reason not to celebrate this New Years Eve in your own way. Quite often many of us find it easier to stay in front of the TV and avoid the crowds, but it's much more fun getting out there (or partying at home) and being sociable, seeing the new year in with friends and family or maybe someone special you haven't even met yet!

You don't have to have a wild night out, you don't even have to go out, but celebrating the start of a new year is something really positive that we should all embrace. No matter what your 2019 has been like, there's always potential for a better year in 2020, so let's welcome it with open arms. Here's a few ideas for NYE that you may just enjoy, especially if you're looking for love...

Get down your local

Local pubs are far less likely to crank up their prices and are much more about having fun and bringing the community together. Why not see what's on at your local this New Years eve, you may just be surprised at the fun that can be had so close to home and it's likely to be much cheaper too. Our local has a 'dress as your favourite music icon' fancy dress party and disco, perfect if you're looking to have fun or meet new people.

Have a date night

Date nights are a rare treat for us parents, so if you're lucky enough to get a babysitter for the night, celebrate a new year together by having a special date night. This doesn't have to be expensive either, you could find out what free events are on locally, go to a house party together like the good old days or just go for a romantic meal for two. If you're single, why not organise a night out with your friends, get an invite for the best parties and if you want a special someone to have fun with, there are plenty of free dating sites uk wide that can help you find the perfect person to see in the new year with. Sites like WeLoveDates are ready and waiting to help you find your perfect match, and what better way to bring in the new year than with a new budding romance!?

Go see some fireworks

Nothing feels more magical than toasting in the new year to come whilst watching a big sparkly firework display. Wherever you live, there will no doubt be a display near you and they are usually a pretty affordable event, with a guaranteed wow factor and a romantic feeling for all.

Host a game night

Hosting a games night with friends or family can be so much fun, and it just so happens to be super cheap too - always a bonus. If you want to liven things up or help match up single friends, why not let your guests bring someone along too, as well as a game or two to get stuck into.

Go on a trip

There are lots of organised coach trips this time of year, some more local taking people to the big celebrations in London but also trips overseas to see the new year in in style, heading to Paris Rome or even New York! This is a great way to explore, see new people and truly celebrate the end of the year. On a smaller scale, you could visit relatives that live further away, catch up with old friends or just see a new place with a mini road trip away.

Get tickets to a local event

Facebook is a really handy tool for seeing upcoming events in your area, so it's worth checking what's on near you for New Years eve. You can also see which of your friends have expressed interest in the events you like, making organising the perfect night out easier than ever. You could go see a show, attend a new years singles night or take it easy at the cinema.

Have an epic dinner party

With many of us vowing to eat healthier and rein in our eating in the new year, a proper epic dinner party could be just the ticket for your celebrations. You could order a takeaway, just plan a little in advance and get your orders in super early, as they will be busier than ever. If you don't mind cooking though, plan a feast and get cooking, you could even ask your guests to bring a course, add some drinks or bring extras to lessen the load. If you're single, this is a great opportunity to meet new people, with friends bringing friends in a natural laid back environment.

Have a pyjama party

If you want to roll straight into bed after the clock strikes twelve, then a PJ party could just be the answer. You may want to invite your friends, or just have a family PJ day, but make it special with clean fresh or even new NYE pjs, special snacks and lots of activities lined up to raise a smile and make it a memorable night for all.

Have a movie night

Whether it's a NYE film theme, shark movies or classic chick flicks, a movie night is a cheap easy and fun solution for a quiet night in with some of your favourite people. This could be a fun family celebration, with snacks at the ready and the more grown up films saved for when the kids go to bed! You could buy or borrow some new films especially for the night to make it more memorable, or even crack out some old favourites that make you feel happy and nostalgic.

Do some RAOK

If you're not a fan of the hustle and bustle of NYE or simply want to do something completely different, then why not do some kind of random acts of kindness, a great way to enter the new year spreading joy as you go. These random acts can be helping out with a homeless charity, hiding treasures for people to find and make them smile, taking flowers to a neighbour, visiting the elderly, anything that will make somebody else happy. People often think of things like helping in soup kitchens to be a Christmas thing, but they really need help all year round, so if you have free time at new years, this could be a good option for you. You never know, you may just enjoy it and you never know who you're going to meet!
