Mama Style || 5 Wardrobe Essentials

Mama Style - Collaborative post

It’s so easy to spend a lot of money on clothes if you go for the high end designer brands, but is it really worth it? Many people wonder whether the quality is really better or if they’re just paying for the label, and whether they will save money if they are willing to spend more for quality.

Unfortunately, there is no clear answer and it all depends on the item. In some cases, you will save money in the long run if you are willing to spend more now because you will get quality pieces that last you a long time. However, in some cases, spending more money doesn’t mean that your clothes will last longer so it’s better to go for the cheap option.

Trick is working out where you should spend and where you should save. These are the wardrobe essentials that are worth spending more money on.

Jeans

A good pair of jeans can last a lifetime if you look after them properly. Denim is so durable and you can wear it over and over without it degrading too much. Jeans don’t need to be washed after every wear, which helps them to last longer as well. They’re a great staple item that can be worn with casual outfits or even for work, so it’s worth investing in a few good quality pairs that will last you a lifetime. Cheaper jeans will often be a blend instead of proper denim, so they will not last anywhere near as long. Once you start replacing your jeans every six months, you’ll realise how much cheaper it is to buy one good pair that will last you for years to come.

If you want your jeans to last a long time, you need to learn how to care for them properly. You should only wash your jeans every 10 wears, and if you notice any spots or stains, just use a damp cloth to wipe them off. When you do wash them, make sure to wash them on a cold temperature and dry them on the line, not in a dryer. As long as you look after them properly, a good pair of jeans will last a lifetime.

Bras

Your bra is the foundation of your outfit, and it’s important that you are comfortable and supported throughout the day. A cheap bra that doesn’t fit right doesn’t give you the support you need, and it won’t last as long so you will need to keep replacing it. It’s important that you have a professional bra fitting on a regular basis to make sure that you have the right size, and invest in a few good quality bras in different tones. It’s always a good idea to buy a nude colour that is similar to your skin tone, so it is not visible under white tops. Even if you do save a lot of money, it’s not worth the discomfort you will feel when wearing a cheap, unsupportive bra. A bad bra also shows through your clothes, so it’s important that you get the foundation of your outfit right before you do anything else.

Jackets And Blazers

Jackets and blazers are a great versatile item to have in your wardrobe. They’re great for a formal look at work, but they look equally as good when paired with some jeans and a white t-shirt to create a casual outfit. But jackets and blazers only look good when the fit is right. If you go for a cheap blazer, the fit will not be flattering and you will have no shape when you are wearing it, so it will look terrible. If you really want your blazers and jackets to look good, you should spend a bit of money on a tailored one. The extra expense is worth it because the fit is much better and it looks way more stylish. If you don’t want to pay for a tailor made jacket, you could pick up a cheaper one and then pay to have it altered. It’s not that expensive to have your clothes altered but it makes a huge difference. When you are choosing a jacket or blazer, it is best to go for black or dark blue, so you can match it with a lot of different outfits.

Boots

As a general rule, cheap shoes never last and they will soon fall apart, so it’s best to spend a bit more money. There are a few exceptions to this rule, like when buying flats. If you want a simple pair of plain black flat shoes that you will wear day to day, there is no need to spend lots of money. However, if you are buying boots, it’s better to pay for quality. A cheap pair of fake leather boots will start to peel after a few months of wear and they will need to be replaced. But a pair of nice, real leather boots will last you a lot longer if you take care of them properly. Clean them well and treat the leather if it starts to crack and your boots will last you for years to come. They’ll also get a lot more comfortable as you wear them, and you don’t need to worry about wearing in a new pair of shoes all of the time.

It’s also a good idea to spend more money on your work shoes, whether you wear boots or heels. You’ll be spending all day, every day in those shoes and you will probably be doing a lot of walking. If they are not comfortable, your feet will be in agony at the end of the day, so it’s best to pay a bit more for something nice and comfortable.

Winter Coats

You don’t need to worry about your winter coat right now but summer will be over before you know it and the cold weather will be on the way. When it comes time to buy a winter coat, you should always be prepared to spend a bit more money. More expensive coats will use more expensive materials rather than a polyester filling, so they will be better at keeping you warm. The better quality materials and the quality of the manufacturing also mean that the coat will last a lot longer. You are going to need your winter coat every year, and you need it to keep you warm, so it’s worth splurging on. If you go for the cheap option, you will only end up buying one every year.

In some cases, when you are buying simple things like t-shirts that get a lot of use and don’t last that long, there’s no need to spend lots of money. But often, spending more money now will save you money further down the line. Spending more money on higher quality clothing will also improve your wardrobe and help you to create better outfits.

If you are worried about the cost, there are a few simple ways that you can get great quality clothes at reduced prices. Shopping in the off-season is a simple way to save, so if you need a new winter coat, now is the time to get it. You should also check sites like eBay to see if you can get some second hand stuff. As long as it’s good quality, it should be perfectly fine. If you use these simple tips to buy better quality clothes, you will save a lot of money in the long term.
