Mama Life || Making Friends & Finding Love In Lincolnshire

Mama Life - Collaborative Post

Living in Lincolnshire myself, I think I can honestly say it's not the most exciting place on earth and it's not packed with particularly trendy hotspots or big name venues. Lincolnshire does have its charms though and whether you want to get out in the (somewhat flat) countryside, or head to the beautiful city packed full of history, there is a lot to explore and a lot to see with someone new if you're looking for love right now. With dating in mind, I thought I'd share some good date or 'getting to know you' ideas to enjoy in and around Lincolnshire, that can be enjoyed any time, as well as some pandemic friendly options too!

Get outdoors

If there's one good thing to come out of 2020, it's that most of us have enjoyed the outdoors a lot more. With the first lockdown, we truly started to appreciate those precious minutes outdoors and absorbing everything nature has to offer. When dating, there are lots of safe, fun ideas to do outdoors, which makes dating in the pandemic much safer as it's far easier to keep a bit more distance without things feeling weird, and you can also enjoy the fresh air knowing you're not breathing in anything nasty. You could head to a forestry commission walking route nearby, which will have people around so you feel safer meeting up, as well as a selection of walking routes and things to explore. If things go well you could grab a coffee at the end or even have a go on the high rope adventure play grounds, they aren't just for kids! If you're feeling adventurous, you could meet for a day out boating or paddle boarding at a lake, hiking on a nice easy trail or even head out for a run together if it's both of your 'cup of tea'.

Play tourists

Head out on foot to explore all the local attractions, you don't have to even pay to go inside with so much beautiful history and architecture to see from the street. It doesn't matter if it's places you've seen a thousand times, when you visit somewhere like a cathedral or famous castle, you can always learn or see something new and this is something that I think is a particularly strong point when it comes to Lincolnshire dating, with Lincoln city boasting heaps of stunning history locally, there's plenty to keep you busy on a date whatever your age. This time of year, wrapping up warm, heading out for a walk with a hot drink and a cuddle on route, equals the perfect date. It may not be the same without a mulled wine and the beauty of the usual Christmas market, but it's still magical out there!

Date from a distance

With the shifts in dating trends since the pandemic hit the UK in March, we've seen many more people opting for virtual dates, getting to know each other by messages, videos, pictures and phone calls for a lot longer before meeting in the flesh. I think this is partly due to restrictions, but also people being sensible and not wanting to come into contact with people unnecessarily when the virus is still circulating. There are so many options for virtual and distance dating, so there will be an option that suits you. If you're comfortable with video calls, then you could have a video date, enjoy a drink or meal, play games or simply chat. If, like me, that is your idea of a nightmare, then go old school and just chat on the phone and send texts while you get to know each other better. Many dating sites and apps have special ice breakers and settings in place to make dating in 2020 easier, with secure video chats, games and profile settings to show you will only meet with a mask etc.

Whether you're looking for love or just out to make new friends, there is no reason to let the wrath of 2020 stand in your path. As much as life has changed dramatically this year, so has the technology and resources available to us, along with a much greater appreciation of anything new and exploring the great outdoors. Just remember to stay safe, meet only when you're ready and have lots of fun.
