Home Style || June Favourites

June, once again has been all about our kitchen makeover, looking for storage ideas, kitchen designs, small building works, tiles, flooring, colours, furniture and all that jazz. Since February we've been trying to sort the kitchen/conservatory so it's going to be such a relief when we finally get started. Luckily, me and Adam have the same brain when it comes to stuff like this, so agree on most things and like the same styles, phew. We pretty much know 100% now what we want, what we're going to compromise on and how we want it to look, hopefully, by the next update we will have things booked in or maybe even be started with the process, I can't wait for it to all be sorted! Staying within budget is always tricky, especially as we often like the most expensive choices but we're confident we can achieve something really special, making an unusable space a real hub of our family home.

Otherwise, June has been mostly about plants, sprucing up the garden and having a good old clear out throughout the whole entire house. It's amazing how much we keep getting rid of yet it hardly seems to dent the clutter in our house. We're going to have to get really ruthless (especially me) and just keep things we love, clothes that fit and things that are extra special.

Our big home investment this month was our new Simba mattress. I've looked at these kind of mattresses a lot and we've been talking about getting a new one for ages to help my back and help us both get better quality sleep. On eBay they had a special 20% off offer on the Simba reconditioned shop featured there so we decided to jump in and take the offer.

Blog wise, I've written a few home related posts through June, mainly focusing on making home improvements and decluttering. Starting with the kids DVDs which freed up a whole shelving unit and next I'll be tackling shoes and coats.

Next up was a few tips on picking the perfect rugs for your floors and the impact they can have on the room. Rugs are so under-rated but can make such a big change to a space, making rooms bigger, more homely and even warmer where needed.

I also looked at ways you could add space to your home, with utilising wall space, having mass declutters and providing adequate storage for your real needs can all make your home appear bigger.

Last up, having thought about our own garden this summer, I looked at ways you can make even the tiniest of gardens worthy of basking in, making the most of the space you have and creating areas to elongate your family garden.

This month I'll hopefully be bagging some summer bargains to pop away for our completed garden, finalising our kitchen and building plans and sorted out some other neglected areas of our home.

Did you make any home changes last month?
