This old house...
Our rocky old home may be filled with a million things that need fixing and a list longer than my arm of things that need updating, but we just love it.
We live in an old Victorian terrace and it's still home to some beautiful original features that we try our best to maintain. To compliment the house we try and fill it with a mixture of modern and vintage, to reflect both the building itself and us as a family too.
We have a few old pieces of furniture that sit happily amongst other far from antique IKEA newbies and it just works so well. I've had skip finds such as my favourite old Salter scales, rescued abandoned furniture and picked up things from junk shops and vintage shops along the way. I love collecting things like old cameras too, they look great hidden amongst modern treasures.
One of my favourite pieces of furniture has to be our TV cabinet which we up-cycled from an old chest, making an opening to hide away those ugly bits of tech, totally bringing old and new together. It's all about seeing value and purpose in items that others see as old and useless, more fool them!
More recently I've been getting back into vintage clothing and in particular my favourite accessories and vintage jewellery. I love the idea of unique gifts too, ones with an unknown history - one off beautiful items that nobody else has.
As well as jewellery, I've been collecting head scarves, some modern and some truly vintage and I love the way they look and some I know will have had seen some fun through the years, if only these things could tell a story hey? I'd love to know who wore it, what they did, what happened to them... This is why I love all things vintage!
Do you love vintage items? What are your favourites?
