Create || Having Fun With Portraits

Around 7 years ago when Alfie was a baby, I did a few commissions for portraits, both pet and people themed and although I enjoyed it, it felt like a lot of work for a little money and the stress of commissions always gets to me as I find it hard to say no and end up doing friends pictures for free and eventually giving up and moving on to the next thing. I loved this style though and they look SO good printed.

Now I'm in a better place with time and working, I'd really like to start listing commissioned portraits onto my Etsy store back in my original style. Listing one at a time and stating a realistic turn around time, means that I can charge what I need to be charging and not feel overwhelmed with a back log of work. I'm not huge on doing portraits of random people as I think unless you know them it can be hard to capture their personality, which is why I much prefer animal prints and pets. I have been playing with some portraits on my Etsy shop though and I have to say I'm loving it.

So far I've draw Iris Apfel, Amy Winehouse, Frida Kahlo and Erykah Badu. I'm currently working on some more unusual music artists such as Felix Baloy as I love strong images that are a little different to the norm. I really like how my portraits are turning out and I'm always open to suggestions if you can think of an iconic person that would look great in this style, just pop a comment below (don't worry, you don't have to buy it too!).

I'm going to do some more traditional portrait icons such as Marilyn, Bowie etc, but I'm going to try and pick less commonly seen pictures of them to base my portraits on, so they're a little different to what others are offering.

If you want to follow my shop or keep up to date with future listings, pop over to my Etsy shop by clicking here or pressing the shop button in my side bar.
