Pickin' Chickens Game >> Review & Giveaway

'Save your chicks from the jumping fox!'

As a panel reviewer for Drumond Park, we have already reviewed some brilliant games such as Og on the bog, Don't wake Dad, Barbecue Party and LOGO Best of British. The kids were delighted to get another one for them to have fun with, the new and brilliant Pickin' Chickens.

This game is for 2 to 4 players and aimed at children aged four and upwards, so it's perfect for us to play with Alf who turns five in just a matter of weeks. Soph loves to join in, so just like the other games we let her play in her own special way too. These games are all great for little hands and are super fun to play with regardless of age and abilities.

Just like the other kids games we have reviewed, this one has a surprise 'pop up' element which in this case is the sneaky fox which makes you jump and laugh in equal measure.

The object of the game is to simply collect all four colours of chicken which you obtain by spinning the wheel and choosing a chicken coop to lift. Underneath a coloured chicken will be revealed. If the fox pops up and catches you, you have to give one chicken back.

If your coop unveils a picture of the farmer, then you get to hold the farmer card which will protect your chickens from the fox the next time he jumps up - I love this idea it really puts a spin on the game.

I love the way this game has you on the edge of your seat wondering if Mr. Fox will pop up, it's a relatively quick game usually, so it's perfect for younger players with short attention spans and also really helps teaching them to wait their turn (takes some practise!) and naming/recognising their colours for younger tots.

The game is easy to put together and packs away in a neat little box to be stored until the next time. Ours has just been out for weeks as the kids just love playing with it and Soph is constantly asking for the fox and chicken box! We keep the chickens inside the coops when we pack it away as we are quite prone to losing bits in this house, the kids are getting used to helping me pack these away now too.

This would be an ideal gift for Christmas and birthdays and be loved for a long long time. The quality is brilliant, the concept is simple and the game is just fun for everyone! This gets a huge thumbs up from us all.

Pickin’ Chickens is on sale now at an RRP of just £19.99, though currently on offer. For more details and other great games and gift ideas, visit www.drumondpark.com. For your chance to win your very own box of fun in the form of Pickin' Chickens, you can enter my giveaway below.
