Meet Keleigh...
Name: Keleigh Rouse
Age: I'm 24 years old
A bit about you? I am a barber 4 days a week and a lash technician in the evenings, as well as blogging! I have been a barber for nearly 7 years and I qualified in lash extensions back in February of this year.
What do you like about your job? I absolutely love my job as a barber. I love all things hair and I'm often playing around with my step daughter Millie's hair. she loves all these clever braids and styles at the moment so I'm taking the opportunity to share alot of them on social media. I did hairdressing straight out of school at 16 and found my calling in barbering not long after and have done it ever since. I'm fairly new to the lashing world, but I'm really enjoying it and absolutely love doing someone's lashes and when they get up they look completely different. I often get messages from clients saying how much they love their lashes and are never going back to not having lash extensions! It makes the tired evenings so worth while.
Anything you don't like about it? There isn't much I can say that i don't like about my jobs. I make people feel good about themselves with a fresh new haircut or a full set of lash extensions, but if I had to say something it would be the odd customer I get into the salon that is a bit of a grump or rude.
I'm a really chatty person so when a customer comes in for a trim and isn't interested in any of my conversations or questions I feel it brings my mood down slightly. Lashing in the evenings can be quite tiring but like I said its all worth it!
Would you recommend it? I would recommend hairdressing to anyone! Its a brilliant trade to have and you can go anywhere in the world doing it! Everyone needs their haircut!
Any funny stories? When I was 16-17 and still training I often turned up on a Saturday horrendously hungover from the night before! I dread to think of the haircuts I sent out the training salon back then but hey, I was only young! I've also done some questionable hairstyles over the years requested by customers, when I'd just qualified i was 18, I had a guy ask me for a haircut like Paul Weller so i pretended to get something out the back and Googled him so I had a clue what I was doing. G.I.Joe was another memorable request!
What's your dream job? My dream job, that's a tricky one. I think it would probably be anything with celebrities. I love the celeb world and I'm a religious magazine reader and E! Watcher.
Would you carry on if you won the lottery? If I won the lottery I don't think I'd work, but I know I'd do a lot of charity work. I'd like to think I'd be at home all day, lunching and doing whatever I wanted when I wanted but I know I'd need to be doing something every day for the routine. I wouldn't need to be paid so I'd volunteer and work with a kids charity definitely.
