Lincoln may not be the biggest or best city in the UK, but it is growing rapidly and thankfully, with that comes big name stores and a greater variety of shopping outlets. This makes for a happy little shopaholic.
The city is pretty unrecognisable to when I first visited around 18 years ago with so many big shops, and the shopping areas being developed as we speak to make it a more vibrant and modern city. I've lived here now for the best part of 15 years and love watching it grow.
Just recently I got told that a new store called Flying Tiger was coming to Lincoln. Having visited the Brighton store a while back, this was very exciting as it's right up my street, and literally opening, right up my street! As I'm also moving my blog to a more family & home blog, anything home related is a bonus, but something cool, unique and different to the norm was even better.
This week, Flying Tiger finally opened their new Lincoln store and I was kindly invited along (like a kid at Christmas) to check out the store, see the new products and even pick up a few treats while I was there. If you've not been to a Flying Tiger store before, it's basically a Danish design store, selling bright and beautiful products to adorn our homes, as well as amazing stationary, beautiful kids toys, craft bits, a little bit of everything really. If you love all the cool, quirky, creative pretty little bits that you see in magazines, then this is your store.
On Thursday I headed into town while the kids were both in school to check it out. I pretty much skipped to town and felt instantly excited when I saw the name and bright exciting window display. There is yet to be a big store sign, but it's easy to spot. This area is lacking shops wise and just having something like Flying Tiger, for me, changes the whole feel of it for the better.
I picked up some kids bits while I was there and honestly from around 50p you can get some perfect little stocking fillers or gifts, something a little more unusual too. I got Alf a 'paint your own' solar system which I think was £4, some little drawers for our craft bits downstairs and a few little extras for his birthday next week. There were some gorgeous little stuffed toys which I wish I'd picked up for Soph, I'll be heading back next week for one of those to pop away for Christmas.
I managed to treat myself too which was lovely. I got myself the softest beanie hat ever, a new shopping tote bag, some stationary bits (because you can never have too many notebooks!) and some adorable little leaf shaped sticky notes, perfect for Autumn.
For the home I was pretty reserved, I did of course update my cactus collection with a new woolly fella, a cute hanging pot which I absolutely LOVE and a skull rubber that is cool enough to warrant shelf space.
I was mega impressed with the new store, it beat the Brighton one hands down, it's really well laid out, beautifully stocked and tidy. The prices are brilliant and I think everyone will have something from there this Christmas. The staff were fun, loved the products they are selling which I always think is a great thing, as well as friendly to all the customers. I cannot fault Flying Tiger and I hope it does so well that it stays in Lincoln forever!
Here's a few more shots taken in store to give you an idea of all the goodies on offer. I'm pretty sure everyone would find something they like and if you want affordable Christmas gifts then this is definitely the place! Flying Tiger is without a doubt my favourite shop in the city now and I am super excited to see the new stock as it comes to the shelves and seasons change. At the moment there is lots for Halloween and Christmas and I want it all!
