Today I'm talking about something slightly different. I think it's so important for us women to not only be confident with our bodies, but also to not be embarrassed about taboo subjects such as your health 'down there' and all the issues that can and do arise at some point for most. I'm going to tackle some of the myths and learn a little more with the help of Canesten.
I think the reason this kind of thing isn't widely talked about is that we are simply embarrassed about what people may think. The main 'myth' we hear is that women only get things like thrush from being dirty or something like that, when actually it's not the case and can be caused by something as simple as your medication. This is exactly why it's so important for us all to be clued up and know the signs to get treatment. You'd think after two babies, another person looking down there with a torch the size of your head would be a breeze, but nope. The thought of it would really put me off going to my GP, how silly is that?
Knowing the difference between things like Bacterial Vaginosis (I didn't know what that is either) and thrush, is really important and can be treated so quickly and easily if we just have the guts to talk about it and know our bodies a little better. It's well worth taking a minute to look at the symptoms of BV so you can seek the right treatment. It's something that most women will encounter at some point and it's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of!
The Canesten Quiz
Canesten are top of the list when you think of treatments for this kind of thing, but they also have heaps of helpful information for us all to help us understand our bodies better and get the best help when needed. Canesten have created a short quiz to test our knowledge on this very subject. Simply click the button below and have a go at the quiz yourself on their site, it's super quick but great to highlight the fact that many of us actually aren't actually all that clued up.
I'll be honest, I scored a whopping 2 out of 6 on the quiz and one of those I answered correctly was a guess too. I don't think we can ever know too much about our bodies, so it's well worth a go. To encourage us all to get talking and learning more about our more intimate parts, Canesten have also offered one lucky reader a £50 Amazon voucher just for taking the quiz entering via the Gleam app (below). Please do comment below to let me know how you got on and what you scored!
* This is a sponsored post with Canesten, though all words and thoughts are my own. Giveaway must be entered via the Gleam app above where a winner will be picked at random. Giveaway open to UK residents aged 18 and over, prize is one £50 Amazon voucher - no alternatives.
