I'm all for a good declutter, sorting the kids bits so that we just have what they actually enjoy using or playing with, but often find we still have a lot of 'stuff' and are always on the look out for suitable versatile storage.
For kids bits, storage needs to be not only spacious enough to store all their things, but also safe and easily accessible for little hands to practise tidying up their toys after play time! I may just have found the perfect solution!
We were recently sent a new storage system from Songmics, with bright colours and fun illustrations, this looked like the perfect option for Soph's room with 9 interlocking cubes that can easily be re-positioned to suit the space.
This storage unit retails at just £33.99, offering heaps of storage space with each cube being 35.5cm square. Arriving in separate parts in a small box, I was excited to see how this would look in our home and also how strong it would be. The sides are plastic metal framed sheets, which slot into simple plastic joining blocks. This is a super simple design but perfect the perfect storage solution for kids bits.
I got to work building the unit and it was clear pretty soon that with the arrival the same day of her new single sized bed in her pitiful box room, that we may have to get creative with the layout. The 3X3 square design looks amazing and has so much space for her things, but for the sake of space we decided we will have to split it into two towers this weekend. It's not often you get this kind of versatility with furniture, it feels really strong when put together and comes with a few spare parts just in case, as well as a little mallet to help build it securely!
I cannot fault this unit whatsoever. The only problem I had building was with putting the doors on and this was purely because I presumed how to build it instead of reading the instructions fully, my bad. Once corrected, this makes for a great piece of furniture for any kids space. There are plain coloured ones too if you're not a fan of the illustrations.
I really can't recommend this storage unit enough, as we've got a cube for school uniform, books, toys, hats, etc etc etc. One handy storage unit with everything right where we need it, its perfect and both kids think it's great. The illustrations are lovely too and make it easier for Soph to remember what's in which cube. The best thing is that you can rebuild it into an L shape, towers or cubes to fit your needs and even store away flat if need be.
