The Christmas Engines DVD: Review

Our son is a huge fan of any machines and really really loves his trains! The huff and chuff of an engine and choo-choos never get old and some of his favourite toys are his various train sets. Just recently he has got more and more into watching Thomas & Friends and really seems gripped by the brilliant stories and characters. We also love cuddling up with our dog Peg in the afternoon and watching a DVD of A's choice, his collection is growing rapidly!

We were recently asked if we would like to review a new Thomas & Friends Christmas DVD that was released last week, called 'The Christmas Engines'. This retails on Amazon for just £5 right now, making it the perfect stocking filler or gift for any Thomas fan this year.

The DVD has a total run time of 68 minutes and includes five brilliant festive episodes. For some reason we both found these episodes even more gripping than the regular TV show and enjoyed the whole DVD from start to finish. Here is the official description;

"Thomas and his friends are in holly, jolly Christmas spirits, ready to be Santa's engine helpers! Percy brings holiday fun to Reg at the scrapyard, while Duncan tries to overcome his bah humbug attitude. Thomas clears the snowy tracks so Connor can race passengers home in time for Christmas. James causes confusion and delay helping Duck get unstuck, as an old friend returns to Sodor bringing Percy the perfect gift. Join Thomas & Friends as they deliver Christmas cheer!"

Between the episodes, there are fun interactive parts which A really enjoyed. These really captured his attention and entertained him. They are great fun and a good way to break up the episodes and give our little train enthusiasts more input. There is also some really nice little songs on the DVD to sing along to, including the classic theme tune as well as some Christmas favourites. This would be a lovely DVD to put in a Christmas Eve box if you do one.

This is a must for any Thomas fan this Christmas. The run time is just about right to hold their attention (my son has just turned four). It's really magical and Christmassy to get everyone in the festive spirit for the big day.

Big thumbs up from us! Choo choo!
