My Illustrations: Going Digital

Aside from blogging, another hobby of mine is illustration. I love that I can just sit and pull out a pen and paper (much like blogging) and draw whatever comes out my head (again much like blogging!). Mainly though, I draw things suggested by my son, his imagination is so much better than mine. I also draw things he has seen in his dreams, which will explain some of the more diverse ones!

I really enjoy my ink drawings but realised my Instagram feed was looking a little dull, so decided to experiment with colour. I began to add watercolours to the images. I quite liked the additional colour, but it wasn't quite me or how I wanted them to look.

I've had Adobe Illustrator on our computer for a few years now, but stuck to my trusted Photoshop, a programme I have played with now for nearly half my life, scary! I avoided Illustrator at uni as I just didn't have the patience to learn and just wanted to get on with my work, big regrets now. A.I does everything I always wanted Photoshop to do for my drawings but never knew how.

My husband taught himself the programme for work so was able to show me the basics. After one go I was able to turn my drawings into digital images, as below.

I feel a renewed excitement for my drawing now and can't wait to practise some more.
