The Big Bank Holiday Spring Clean!

Bank holidays are just the best aren't they? The greatest thing for us is that we always forget when they are - every year without fail and end up feeling super excited a few days before about having some extra family time and a day off work - amazing! There has to be some advantage to being disorganised, this must be it! Not any more though - this August bank holiday is firmly marked in my brain and I am for once making us some plans. What better way to use your bank holiday but to sort out the house. All those niggly little jobs add up and finally it's time for a belated spring clean up, a million tip runs and even a little shopping to help spruce up the house and get ready for autumn. Will I ever get my lovely clock up on the wall? It's been sat there for three months and it's not looking very hopeful. Luckily it kind of works where it is. I will be beautifying some other areas with the help of my favourite treasure trove - my local HomeSense store.

We are still blessed with a little summer time, but already the evenings are closing in and it's getting darker earlier. I love this time of year, it is so much cosier. Who knows - the kids might even sleep better too, I can only hope! Tonight my (electric) fire went on in the living room, lamps and candles were lit, curtains were drawn and it really felt like one of those cosy autumn nights had arrived early!

This bank holiday we hope to have a good clear out, getting rid of all the clutter and do a little shopping for a few beautiful things to cosy up our living room and in particular, our bedroom for Autumn. I love this styling from HomeSense - how gorgeous is that room?! I love the sleepy relaxed feel and I hope to take some inspiration with me on my shopping trip. There are so many things in store that I need right now, yes need! I wonder if they would just let me live in the shop? That could work!

I can just see myself sprawled there snuggling into that faux fur throw - heaven. Ours is a pretty blank canvas right now with baby S settled well in her own room, we can make it ours again and I'll be picking up a few goodies while Mr Waffle keeps the kids entertained in the toy section. I love nautical themes as well as natural woods, textures, colours and of course a dose of shabby chic, so I'll be keeping an eye out for those items. The living room look below has my tastes down to a tee so I am really excited to get my hands on some of these gorgeous textured goodies!

Have a great bank holiday whatever you get up to - do you have any plans yet?
